Trouble Shooting Your Golf Swing
- If you hit lots of grass and make a
divot behind your ball, your weight may be on your back foot rather
than your front foot during your downswing. As you begin your
downswing, be sure to shift your weight to your front foot.
- If you are not making solid contact
with the ball, your head may be popping up or down or moving from
side to side. This causes your clubface not to meet the ball in its
sweetspot. Keep your eyes on the ball and your chin pointed toward
your ball throughout your swing to make solid contact between the
clubface and the ball. Your head comes up in your follow through.
- If your ball flies straight right or
straight left, it may mean your hands are pointing the clubface in
either of those directions at the point of impact. If this happens,
check that your grip on the club is correct.
- If your ball curves to the right or to
the left, it may mean that the path you are swinging your club is
incorrect. If you are having this problem, check your set-up and
your alignment to the target.
- If you keep hitting the top of your
golf ball and your shots do not get up in the air, check your knees.
They should remain bent throughout your swing.
