TIGER'S TIPS: BEGINNERS GOLF FOR KIDS AGES 6-106 (Don Emerick)
Specific Golf Swing Tips
  • Your TAKEAWAY should start close to the ground and your BACKSWING should finish with your hands above your shoulder and your back facing the target.
  • At the top of your BACKSWING most of your weight should be on your right foot with your hips and shoulders turned to the right.
  • When you get the club to the top of your BACKSWING, you should have a short pause before you begin your DOWNSWING.
  • On the DOWNSWING, bring your body weight from your right leg to your left leg by turning your hips toward the target. This should bring the club to the ball on the same path that it went up on.
  • Try to swing the club through the bottom of the ball at the POINT OF IMPACT to make the ball go up in the air - keeping your knees bent throughout your swing will decrease the chance of hitting the top of your golf ball.
  • At the finish of your swing, or your FOLLOW-THROUGH, you should be facing your target with your weight on your left leg and your hands by your left ear.
