Want to reach your optimal playing
level? According to Dr. Penn, you should be on the look-out for several
warning signs that indicate you may need some help from a chiropractor.
"We can provide some exercises and stretches that help ‘fine tune’
and enhance your performance," says Dr. Penn. "Your game could
improve simply by relieving some of the pain and tension in your
muscles."
Warning signs include:
- Pain in your lower back, shoulders and neck
- Fatigue
- Limited range of motion
These symptoms are often the result of
"vertebral subluxation complex," which includes several
stages. Early on, you may have some joint dysfunction and nerve
irritation. Untreated, it could progress to muscle spasms, inflammation
around the discs and eventually degenerative joints. This happens over
the course of many years, but can be treated with visits to the
chiropractor. "The first thing that will happen with treatments is
you’ll notice an improvement in and restoration of your range,"
says Dr. Penn. He adds that several different exercises directed toward
balance can also help "re-train the brain," for example, in
the case of a back injury.
