| TOE THE PUTTER IN (Dan Pasquariello) | |||
|
How many times have you hit what seemed to be the perfect shot to the green, only to have the ball run to the back of the green and rest against the fringe or collar of the green. Now you are faced with the decision of whether to chip it or putt it but both shots are extremely demanding and take nerves of steel. The popular shot of today is to take a sand wedge and using a putting stroke to blade the ball (hit the top of the ball with the leading edge of the club). A nice choice but still risky and takes a lot of practice. An
easier
technique,
if
you
putt
with
a
blade
or
heel/toe
weighted
putter,
is
to
toe
the
putter
in
and
use
your
normal
(a
scary
thought)
putting
stroke.
The
toe
cuts
through
the
rough
and
the
ball
comes
out
with
little
resistance. |
