| IMPORTANCE OF GETTING FIT (Jess Frank) | |||
|
Fitness
is
extremely
important
in
any
sport.
Flexibility,
conditioning,
and
strength
training
have
taken
the
game
of
golf
to
new
heights.
Everyone
once
thought
that
if
you
lifted
weights
you
would
become
too
big
to
swing
a
golf
club.
That
is
a
complete
myth.
For
about
the
past
15
years,
athletes
have
used
weight
training
to
help
them
get
an
advantage
over
their
competitors.
It
is
no
different
now,
and
Tiger
is
helping
to
bring
it
in
vogue
with
the
PGA
Tour.
He
is
in
the
best
condition
of
his
life,
and
his
career
will
only
be
prolonged
because
of
it. I
find
especially
in
teaching
golf
that
many
people
are
very
inflexible.
So
it
is
very
difficult
for
them
to
create
club
head
speed
to
hit
the
ball
farther.
The
one
part
of
fitness
I
would
recommend
for
all
golfers
would
be
to
work
on
their
flexibility
with
different
stretches.
You
can
find
many
good
golfing
exercise
books
in
the
stores.
Ernie
Els
and
of
course
Gary
Players
have
two
excellent
books
out
right
now. |
