Golf Swing

Off Season - Not Off Form! (Karl Fischer)

So, what does a guy do to keep 'In the Swing Of Things' during the 'Off Season'?  ...to avoid sticking the clubs in the far corner of the garage or basement where they whimper at you endlessly. My first answer, concluded over just about thirty years of teaching this 'Silly Game' we have come to know as 'Golf', is
'To Not Take Extended Time Off' (remembering I am from Canada!).

"But it is 17 degrees Fahrenheit outside with a touch of snow, the wind is blowing and the days are so short
I go to work and come home in near darkness!" is my student's candid response.

We have some options. They are:

1) Relocate to a more moderate climate
2) Snow-Bird South for the Winter or at least a trip or two so you can thaw out, get a little sun and play
some golf.
3) Buy a weighted 'Swing Trainer' and make 'Turns to the Brace Side and back to the Target Side', feeling some 'COIL and Release', feeling some 'Brace Leg-Drive' and some 'Down The Line, Brace Hand and Arm Extensor Action'.

Make Your 'TURN, COILS and LOADS' followed by those natural response moves which are 'ReTURN, UnCOIL and UnLOAD' in the opposite direction.

You can easily make some good 'Golf Swings' every second day in the garage as soon as you get home, remote the door down, kiss the spouse and see how the kids have been doing. You do not have to remember some scratches for the dog as they get their time right away (love my Schnauzers!).

Brace Lever Extensor Action
I always promote that my swingers make 'Golf Swings' that 'FEEL' a lot like an under-handed softball pitcher that should get that 'Brace or Delivery Hand' traveling to the catcher's mitt following the ball. This is also what my '555 Golf Team' calls 'Follow or Chase'. We think that the 'Brace Hand' (right for righties) should 'Extend Down The Target Line' in order to get the 'Clubhead PATH' there as well. Whether your 'Clubface AIM' is correct depends primarily on your Grip's being properly set on the club.

During my 'Off Season' I make 'Golf Swings' every day 'In Slow Motion' in my office, in the hallway, in the parking lot, anywhere I can manage without either hitting anyone or looking too silly and stimulating too many questions. When you make 'Slow Motion Moves' you can 'FEEL' them better so your 'Muscle Sequences' are efficiently reminded of the 'Firing Order'. 'Make The Moves'.

'Timing, Tempo, Rhythm, Pace and Cadence' will all be tended to in this easily followed discipline. When 'Spring' arrives you will not have to take the usual 'Rust Off The Hinges'! You know, that squeaky old gate that is so uncomfortable over the first half a dozen 'Spring' rounds or so!

Play and score well!
