3-WOOD FROM OFF THE GREEN (Peter Finnegan)
The winter season is upon us here in New Hampshire. Golf anywhere is great. I recently played 36 holes in North Carolina over the holiday with family. Due to the dormant conditions of the fairways and greenside areas (fringes, aprons), I found almost green-like conditions there. I had the opportunity to use a shot that I feel I used long before Tiger made it famous. It is the 3-wood from just off the green. Keep in mind to maintain an open stance (left hip pointing more toward leftfield). Using a putting style motion and choking down on the grip to about 1" from the end, slightly flex your knees and maintain two thoughts: arms only and follow through, club head continues towards the hole>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Give it a try. I feel you will have great success and fun. Enjoy any golf you can play during the winter season. It is the perfect time to experiment with shots. Happy New Year!
