GET THE CLUB SQUARE AT IMPACT (Brian T. Cairns)

Most amateurs we see in the golf business who are having difficulty getting out of bunkers share one common problem. They don't know how to get the club square at impact. A lesson I learned while working with Ed Furgol, was simply while taking practice swings in the practice bunker, at the bottom of the downswing (when the club enters the sand) pretend you are twisting a bubble gum machine handle. This twisting motion will get the clubface open to your swing line, thus getting the ball up in the air, and onto the green. It has worked for me even during competition.
