Putting

KEY DRILLS FOR PUTTING
Railroad Drill
Place two clubs like a railroad track, three to four feet from the hole on a straight putt. Practice putting between the tracks to develop alignment and swing path. Repeat this drill for 10 to 15 minutes, then remove the clubs and continue to work on a variety of lengths, using one ball and your pre-swing routine each time.

Stroke Drill
This drill works on stroke trust and helps you develop a sense of patience in your stroke. Using one ball, select various distances to practice. Go through your pre-swing routine with each putt. Prior to the stroke, shut your eyes and putt. From the stroke, predict the outcome (e.g. made, long, short, right or left) before opening your eyes. This is a fun partner drill.

Steadiness Drill
If you have problems moving on putts or tend to be jerky in your motion, set a club against your target leg while putting. If the club drops, your lower body has moved too much. Lighten up your hand pressure and continue practicing putts off various distances until the club remains steady during the stroke.
