Putting

PUTTING SUCCESS CHECKLIST
  • Read the green before every shot. Find a spot behind your ball directly in line with the hole, then bend down so you can see the slope of the green. If the slope is higher on one side, the ball will curve to the lower side. Reading the green is necessary for aiming. Oftentimes you will not aim at the hole but rather at a spot inches away from the hole because of the slope or curvature of the green.
  • Determine your line. Set the putter head square to the target by placing the putter blade at a right angle to the intended line of the putt.
  • Take a few practice swings to feel your distance.
  • Putting is a "quiet swing" with a smooth, continuous stroke. Follow a pendulum motion and maintain a constant pace from beginning to end.
