Putting

PUTT IT THE WAY YOU FEEL (David Ruvolo)
The key to being a good putter is to play it the way you feel. Playing the golf course more often will help you play more by feel. Your objective when playing on the golf course is to get the golf ball in the hole! It doesn’t matter how you do it, just as long as the golf ball gets in the hole. If you think about the mechanics of your putting stroke on the golf course, you're in for a long day!

Take a look at all of the different styles of putting. Bernard Langer, Rocco Mediate, Sam Snead and Chi Chi Rodriguez, to name just a few. I know from experience that when I forget about the mechanics of the putting stroke I give myself the opportunity to focus more on getting the golf ball in the hole.

In fact, I know that when I think about getting the golf ball in the hole, it’s funny how my putting stroke just happens to come together. Does a basketball player watch the basketball and their hands as they throw the ball towards the hoop? Or does a basketball player watch the hoop and let their bodies find a way to get the ball to the hoop?
